I haven't been to therapy before, what should I expect during the first session? The initial session is a time for you to begin to share your story. This is an opportunity for you to talk about what has been bothering you, things you would like to address in therapy, or anything else that is important to you and makes you who you are. I am a strong believer that the therapeutic relationship is key for successful treatment, and will become the foundation for working together. Overall, I want you to feel comfortable. Perhaps you already know what you want to work on, maybe you have some ideas, or maybe you don't know where to start. As you begin to figure out some goals you'd like to obtain, we will work together to figure out how to get you there. Most importantly, you are the guide of your treatment.

How much will sessions cost?If I am an in-network provider with your insurance company, the amount that you will owe depends on your insurance plan. In some cases, people will have a deductible that must be met before insurance covers sessions. In other cases, people may owe a co-pay that varies in amount. On the back of your insurance card there should be a number for behavioral health/mental health, you can contact your insurance company directly to find out exactly what amount you will be responsible for based on the insurance plan you have. Self Pay Rates: 100$/session

My child is worried about coming to therapy and isn't much of a talker, will they still benefit? Many children (and adults!) have concerns about coming to therapy. Initially, it might seem intimidating or nerve-wrecking to open up about things that are uncomfortable to discuss. This is all part of the process and nothing outside of the norm. For children, the use of games, art, and other activities can be very helpful to ease nerves and encourge open discussion. I incorporate various sensory tools into my practice as well. When a child or teen is busy in an activity it seems that conversation comes more easily and is less pressured. Something as simple as bouncing on a yoga ball can be an effective approach. I aim to make therapy/counseling feel like more of a conversation as opposed to a formalized process. My priority is that you feel comfortable, whether you are a child or an adult!

Do you prescribe medication? No, I am not a medical doctor. If you want to be evaluated for psychiatric medication, you can contact your primary care physician or a psychiatrist. I can help provide referrals if you need help finding a psychiatrist. If you are already taking medication, I can coordinate care with your doctor.
At this time I am not accepting new clients.
